Description:
POST SUMMARY
The post of Research Assistant within the Trinity PPI Ignite Office is to support, enhance, promote, and embed public and patient involvement (PPI) across all aspects of Trinity’s health research infrastructure, thereby ensuring that members of the public and patients have an integral role in the development, design, delivery and dissemination of health and social care research. PPI can be defined as doing research ‘with’ or ‘by’ members of the public, patients, and carers rather than ‘to’, ‘about’ or ‘for’ them.
Trinity PPI Ignite Office is part of the national PPI Ignite Network (www.ppinetwork.ie), co-funded by the Health Research Board (HRB), Irish Research Council (IRC) and seven higher education institutions. The PPI Ignite Network
Trinity PPI Ignite Office aims to build capacity for high-quality PPI both within Trinity and among its external partners. It also aims to embed PPI across Trinity’s institutional policies and practices as they relate to health and social care research.
The Research Assistant will focus on Trinity initiatives including the development Trinity initiatives such as:
- the development of innovative PPI activity within Trinity Centre for Ageing and Intellectual Disability;
- the pursuit of equality, diversity and inclusion in PPI;
- the promotion of PPI contributor led research;
- the running of the PPI Ignite Festival Fund competition;
- the coordination of a module on ethics in PPI.
- The development of an impact framework for PPI.
The Research Assistant will also support the development of research funding applications, running workshops and training to support research teams in creating solid PPI plans that funders can support. They will also provide training and support on emerging PPI issues for Trinity health and social care researchers.
