Description:
AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN A MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS RESEARCH GROUP AT THE JOHN RADCLIFFE HOSPITAL, UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
You are invited to apply to join Professor Lars Fugger, Dr Kate Attfield and their team at the Oxford Centre for Neuroinflammation (OCNI), as part of the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK. You will lead a collaborative research project led between Professor Lars Fugger and Dr Kate Attfield to explore and develop new treatment options for multiple sclerosis patients.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common, chronic disabling neurological condition in young adults, afflicting more than 2.5 million people worldwide. The unmet challenge to prevent disease progression in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) indicates that current treatment options are constrained by our understanding of disease cause and the pathways or cell types that become engaged at both onset and throughout disease course.
As part of an exciting translational medicine research project, the successful candidate will assist in the development and application of several experimental assays. You must be highly motivated and be confident working independently. Experience in molecular biology assays and working with human peripheral blood or human tissue is desirable, but not essential. Training will be provided where necessary.
If you would like to discuss this position informally before applying, please email Professor Fugger (lars.fugger@ndcn.ox.ac.uk) or Dr Kate Attfield (kate.attfield@ndcn.ox.ac.uk). This is a grade 6 position.
Further information regarding the research group of Professors Lars Fugger can be found at: www.imm.ox.ac.uk/wimm-research/mrc-human-immunology-unit/lars-fugger ; www.msoxford.co.uk; www.ndcn.ox.ac.uk/team/prinicipal-investigators/lars-fugger
Please see the below ‘Job Description’ for further details on the responsibilities and selection criteria, as well as further information about the university and how to apply.
This is a full-time position, but candidates who wish to apply for a part-time or flexible working-position are also welcome to apply.
