YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Hold or be working towards a BSc or MSc degree in Biology or Biomedical Science
- High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to form productive professional relationships and communicate effectively with various stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise, and execute tasks efficiently, ensuring timely completion of specimen collection and processing while remaining adaptable to changing circumstances
- Proven ability to work independently and effectively solve problems

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
The Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our Vitreoretinal Surgery Unit. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to high-quality research focused on cytokine and retinal surgery. The Research Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the operations and projects within the unit.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Collect, process, and store human vitreous specimens as required by the study protocol
- Liaise with surgeons and patients regarding specimen collection
- Maintain excellent record-keeping of lab activities and compile results for presentation
- Provide support in training students or other laboratory members as needed
- Collaborate with team members and other researchers at CERA to ensure the success of research projects.
This role can be filled on a part time basis of 0.4 FTE up to 6 months or 0.2FTE up to 12 months.
