Responsibilities:
This function aligns with the museum and conservation objectives of the Plantentuin and the GUM (Ghent University Museum) concerning the collection and preservation of natural history collections. Are you fascinated by natural science collections, and does the digital world hold no secrets for you? Do you enjoy collaborating with project partners from various institutions? Specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing and digitizing the natural history collections of Ghent University, encompassing both heritage and research collections. This involves evaluating various management forms, addressing both the physical condition and digital management (utilized collection management systems, standards, metadata).
- Formulating well-founded advice for necessary actions to integrate diverse collections into internationally accepted platforms.
- Monitoring international developments regarding standards and collection management systems, as well as information on the legal framework developed within DiSSCo.
- Attending networking events within DiSSCo and reporting progress to internal and external stakeholders (project coordinator).
- Keeping abreast of trends and developments within the field.
- Collaborating closely with partners from ID-Lab (Ghent University) and Flemish partner institutions.
