Description:
Position: Research Associate I/II – Preclinical Studies
The Research Associate will be responsible for performing in vivo studies including compound dosing, sample collection and analysis for data generation. They will be encouraged to present results at project team meetings. This position will afford the opportunity to work alongside a highly dynamic and collaborative team to develop an entirely new therapeutic modality.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor or equivalent degree in biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology, or similar discipline
- Significant experience working with animal models is required
- Previous experience with animal handling and dosing techniques
- Passionate about scientific discovery, self-motivated, and eager to learn new skills and contribute to the success of the organization
- Exhibits flexibility and a commitment to scientific excellence
- Highly motivated, hands-on experimentalist who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
- Good writing and communication skills
- Computer skills: working knowledge of MS-Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required. Knowledge of graphing software (e.g., GraphPad prism) and basic understanding of statistical analyses is a plus
- Adaptable/flexible with work schedule with an ability to multi-task and prioritize work

Responsibilities:
- Previous experience with animal handling and dosing techniques.
- Perform in vivo lab procedures including but not limited to rodent dosing (ip, iv, sc, im, etc.) studies, breeding setups and husbandry, genotyping sample collection, blood/tissue collections
- Proficient in administering substances by intravenous (IV) -MUST-, intraperitoneal (IP), subcutaneous (SC), intramuscular (IM) and Intertumoral (IT) injections
- Follow established research guidelines and policies for animal care activities
- Recognize, understand, and adhere to IACUC approved protocols, policies, and procedures
- Manage genotyping assay development and sample processing Collect experimental data from animals to include weight, blood analyses or other tests based off project support
- Perform in vivo procedures to evaluate PK/PD and efficacy of therapeutic candidates
- Experience in the collection of biological specimens (blood via submandibular and/or cardiac puncture), necropsies and tissue collection
- Experience with IVIS imaging is preferred but not necessary
- Ability to assist in downstream tissue processing/analysis is preferred
- Experience with protein-based assays (i.e. Western Blots, ELISA, flow cytometry)
- Execute, troubleshoot, and optimize standard protocols
- Demonstrated ability to maintain laboratory notebook, to analyze results, and effectively communicate findings to the organization at internal meetings
- Performing such other duties as may be assigned to you from time to time
