JOB SUMMARY:

Westat is seeking a Research Associate to join a multi-disciplinary team that conducts research and provides technical assistance on special education programs funded by the federal government.
Remote work arrangement available.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in social science, education, or another relevant field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience OR an MA/MS degree in social science, education, or another relevant field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience at the postgraduate level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Indian Education, Office of Special Education Programs, or Rehabilitation Services Administration.
  • Education research, analysis or data collection experience preferred.
  • Previous Helpdesk or technical assistance experience preferred.
  • Website usability and functionality testing experience preferred.
  • Level 5C clearance with the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Bilingual (Spanish)

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated communication skills.
  • Collaboration with teams, managers and/or clients.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Organization skills, including time management ability.
  • Detail oriented

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with grant recipients about regulatory and data collection issues.
  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries received through the help desk.
  • Conduct data collection activities including non-response follow-up.
  • Conduct descriptive analyses and draft reports.
  • Support virtual meetings, including taking notes.
  • Test data collection websites for usability and functionality.
