Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING | NGĀ WHĀINGA MATUA

The Food Materials & Structures team researches the links between the material properties of horticultural, arable, and vegetable bioresources and their functionality in food applications. Working in the team, you will contribute to research projects studying food properties, oral processing and the sensory perception of foods. You will support the study of food properties, development of sample foods and products, sensory studies in our research programmes, and provide and supervise standard quality testing (milling and baking) for our internal cereal breeding programs and industry clients.

To be successful in this role, the minimum qualifications required are:

  • Relevant post-graduate or undergraduate science qualifications, with at least two years relevant practical experience in Food Technology, Food Science or a related discipline
  • Experience in the physical analysis of food products
  • Basic data analysis and interpretation with qualifications and/or experience in accredited laboratory procedures
  • Builds positive relationships with others; shares knowledge through training and upskilling. Contributes to positive teams and research and/or technology collaborations
  • Attention to detail, accuracy in record-keeping associated with data, samples, materials and reportin
