Description:
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly self-motivated and driven research associate with a background in chemical engineering (or a related discipline)
This role forms part of the battery manufacturing research group at the University of Sheffield. The post holder will work on a Faraday Institute grant (Nextrode) specifically working on research into new multiphase particle and powder engineering methodologies.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Professor Rachel Smith in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.

The Department
Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) is ranked amongst the top 5 Chemical Engineering Departments in the UK and is a thriving department within the University’s Faculty of Engineering. CBE comprises 38 academic staff, 58 research staff and technicians, 16 support staff and a student population of over 650 undergraduates, and 250 postgraduates (taught and research).

The role
- The main aim of the role is to plan and carry out research in modelling and simulation of particulate processes using appropriate software packages (DEM, CFD, FEA, etc.), and be an active member of the Nextrode group.
- Apply and develop experimental methodology for model verification, parameterisation and validation
- Take responsibility for planning and managing project meetings, alongside other consortium members.
- Present results and communicate with stakeholders.
