Description:

Overview:

We are seeking a Research Associate to join AIR’s with our Learning Supports program area, where we provide research and technical assistance to federal, state, and local clients, primarily focusing on the supports children need to be ready to learn in the K-12 education system. Driven by our mission to make the world a better, more equitable place, our Learning Supports program area uses a proactive and preventative framework to support these content areas:

  • Early childhood
  • English learners
  • Multi-tiered system of support
  • Special education

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of relevant work experience in education, the social sciences, public health or related field or Master’s degree
  • Ability and interest in learning and using a variety of online meeting platforms, (Adobe, Teams, Zoom) and website content management systems
  • Experience in related topic areas, including early childhood education, English Learners, special education, and/or multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) preferred
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software required. (Experience with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Access preferred.)

  • Effective communicator with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently with accuracy on detailed assignments
  • Ability to work across several contracts or projects simultaneously

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and oversees project requests, budgets and staffing with support from project and task leaders
  • Provides support for project websites and online shared work-spaces
  • Coordinates with AIR’s contracts and finance departments to develop and execute contracts
  • Communicates project support needs and requests to senior management and clientele
  • Assists with the development and writing of new technical assistance and research tools and resources, such as surveys
  • Supports design and execution of virtual and in-person trainings for both internal and external audiences
  • Collects, compiles and validates data using standard practices and techniques to help inform research and technical assistance requests
  • Collects and analyzes data from interviews with study participants
  • Assists with development and writing of standard technical proposals to clients and other business development activities
  • Tracks and follows up on time-sensitive client inquiries, including monitoring of project email accounts
  • Provides administrative support where applicable (e.g. mailing materials to research study participants such as paper surveys, classroom materials, etc.
