QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates require a Ph.D. with demonstrated academic and research expertise in the fields of snRNAseq, snATACseq, bioinformatics data analysis, neuroanatomy, and immunohistochemistry and RNAScope for gene validation studies. Candidates must have experience designing, planning, and executing experiments, including demonstrated experience coordinating collaborative projects and directing the workflow of others. They must have experience preparing manuscripts for submission to peer review publications/journals, and preparing research proposals to be submitted to granting agencies. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and demonstrate the ability to work independently, but also have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work positively with others.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a bioinformatics pipeline for RNA-Seq, snRNA-Seq, and snATAC-Seq data analysis, utilizing Bash, R, Python, and computational and cloud computing resources.
  • Perform brain and spinal cord dissections from ALS/FTD autopsies
  • Perform dissections of murine brain and spinal cord, applying knowledge of regional neuroanatomy.
  • Offer feedback and mentorship to junior lab members, enhancing their research skills and academic growth.
  • Execute laboratory techniques such as real-time PCR, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, RNAScope, microscopy, along with follow-up analyses.
  • Co-ordinate research efforts with collaborators and their teams.
  • Preparing manuscripts for submission to peer review publications/journals.
  • Presenting findings to research peers and collaborators.
  • Assisting with research proposals to be submitted to granting agencies.
  • Co-ordinating biosafety processes and lab maintenance, including inventories, equipment repairs, ordering, and shipping reagents, etc.
  • Establishing standard operating protocols and procedures for the laboratory.
    Beyond these responsibilities, the individual may be expected to participate in the research supervision of two or more students or other trainees. At all times, the individual is expected to support the overall research and teaching missions of the lab.
