The appointed Research Associate will be based at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, located in the Clinical Sciences Building Novena campus. LKCMedicine has a broad range of research programs and interdisciplinary research centers that host a range of leading research teams to conduct frontier biomedical research. Dr Xia’s group is internationally recognized for its contribution in the research area of human stem cell derived kidney organoids. To establish kidney organoids that are suitable for disease modeling and drug validation, Dr Xia’s group employed a multidisciplinary approach, including stem cell differentiation, multicellular self-organization, scRNAseq, high-content imaging, genetic perturbation, xenotransplantation, and etc. Key projects in Dr Xia’s group includes testing drugs for treating PKD in organoid xenograft models, modeling ccRCC initiation using gene edited kidney organoids, and establishing organoid models for studying diabetic kidney disease, etc. Ultimately, Dr Xia’s group aims to translate basic research outcome into therapeutic methodologies that can benefit patients. To accomplish this, Dr. Xia’s team actively seeks industrial and clinical collaborations to promote translational science.
The appointed Research Associate is expected to play an important role in the project entitled “Preclinical evaluation of candidate PKD drugs in kidney organoid xenograft model and genetic animal model”. The appointee will support a range of experiments for this research project, including stem cell culture, organoid differentiation, tissue histology and imaging, etc.
