Description:

Applications are invited for a Biocurator to join PomBase, the model organism database for the fission yeast, Schizosaccharomyces pombe. The project’s aims are to manually curate and integrate molecular, genetic, biochemical and sequence data for fission yeast.
Applicants will have completed a PhD and have a background in biocuration and/or in yeast experimental biology, with a degree in Cell biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or a similar field. They should also have skills in data organization and basic bioinformatics and a passion for reading and interpreting original research. The applicant will need to have a broad understanding of eukaryotic cell biology. Experience in ontology use and/or editing would be an advantage.
