Mechanical Engineering Department is seeking applications for a Part-time Research Associate Position, to work closely with Professor Koveces on a Mechanical Design Project, with expertise in the field of mechanical analysis and design.
The candidate will be joining the Professor’s Lab, studying and proposing mechanical design solution possibilities for the implementation of optics-based data transfer devices in rotating machinery. He will manage and help drive a growing research agenda through overseeing and collaborating with research fellows, researchers, students, and staff.

Position Summary:
- The applicant will work and support Professor Koveces in hi Lab.
- He/She will review documentation, design and experimental procedures.
- His/her role will include to study and propose mechanical design solution possibilities for the implementation of optics-based data transfer devices in rotating machinery.
- The applicant must carry out analysis of the conceptual and detailed mechanical design solutions.
- Part of his/her role is planning, coordinating, and carrying out physical prototyping for the chosen mechanical design.
- Writing project reports.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in the field of mechanical analysis and design.
Other Qualifying Skills & Abilities:
- Proven track record of developing and advancing technology.
- Demonstrated experience of working in an academic environment and interacting with industrial partners.
- Strong analytic skills and attention to detail are essential.
- Complete and consistent ethical conduct of research.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
