Description:

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Research Associate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Play an essential role in the conceptualization and design of the experiments
  • Select the materials systems and structures to enhance the adhesion capability and adhesion switchability of the adhesive gripper
  • Establish the mechanics model of the adhesive metamaterial gripper for optimization
  • Preparation and integration of the smart gripper and adhesive film
  • Explore potential applications such as robotic griping and object sorting
  • Collaborate with PhD students and visiting students working on the project
  • Write paper and publish research results in internationally reputable journals
  • Help supervise undergraduate FYP students and URECA students

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanics or Mechanical Engineering
  • Rich experience in experimentation and modeling of soft materials
  • Rich experience in mechanics modeling of shape memory polymer adhesives
  • Good communication and writing skills in English
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong responsibility for research work
  • Publication track record is an advantage
