Description:

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT), University of Luxembourg, invites applications from highly motivated and outstanding researchers in the area Quantum Computing to work with the Signal Processing and Communications (SIGCOM) research group. SnT carries out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, governmental, or international partners. SnT is active in several national projects funded by National Research Fund (FNR) and local industries, and international research projects funded by the EU FP7 programme, H2020 programme and the European Space Agency (ESA). For further information, you may check: www.securityandtrust.lu
The SIGCOM research group is headed by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas, and mainly carries out research activities in the areas of signal processing for wireless communication systems, including satellite communications, and is currently expanding its research activities toward quantum information sciences to carry out fundamental research and identify potential uses cases in the near-future. For further information, you may refer to https://wwwen.uni.lu/snt/research/sigcom
We are looking for people driven by excellence, excited about innovation, and looking to make a difference. If this sounds like you, you have come to the right place!

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly qualified Research Associate (Postdoc) candidate in quantum quantum computing. Applicants are expected to possess a strong understanding of wireless communications networks and the specific challenges they present, particularly those related to beyond 5G networks. Furthermore, applicants should be well-versed in leveraging quantum computing to effectively address and overcome these challenges. The ideal candidate will possess not only a solid theoretical understanding of these technologies, but also a demonstrated ability to apply their knowledge through hands-on experience. We are looking for an individual who is able to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and who is committed to driving innovation and advancement in the field of quantum information sciences.

The successful candidates are expected to perform the following tasks:

  • Research activities in quantum information sciences: Perform fundamental research in quantum computing: Quantum error correction and/or quantum algorithm design. Ideal candidate would be able to collaborate with the group members to design and analyze novel quantum computing algorithms for beyond 5G wireless communication systems. Ability to demonstrate the efficacy of the solutions in small-scale simulations or implementations on currently available (cloud) quantum computers is a strong plus
  • Disseminating results through scientific publications and conferences
  • Integrate with the SIGCOM team and identify synergies between quantum information sciences and wireless communication systems with special attention to non-terrestrial networks
  • Provide assistance in the supervision of Ph.D. students
  • Contribute to ongoing research projects in terms of technical contributions and/or coordination
  • Prepare new research proposals to attract industrial, national, and European projects
