Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are looking for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the Autonomous Agents Research Group led by Dr. Stefano V. Albrecht in the School of Informatics. The group focuses on research in deep reinforcement learning and interaction in multi-agent systems. Homepage with further details: https://agents.inf.ed.ac.uk
The successful candidate will join the 3-year project “Explainable Reasoning, Learning and Ad hoc Multi-agent Collaboration”, funded by the US Office of Naval Research (ONR), with project partners at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Birmingham. This particular position will focus on the development of novel deep reinforcement learning algorithms and/or multi-agent reinforcement learning algorithms.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria:
- PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related area
- Good publication track record in high-quality venues
- Strong mathematical skills, particularly statistics and probability
- Strong programming skills (we mostly work with Python)
- Experience with deep reinforcement learning algorithms (implementation, training, evaluation)
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently, e.g. evidenced by first-authored publications
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, to meet deadlines and to report on project progress
Desirable criteria:
- Background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous agents, multi-agent systems
