ABOUT YOU

The postholder will have opportunities to lead on specific projects which will be agreed upon following appointment, depending on their skill set and aspirations for professional development.
You will manage your own research and administrative activities, within guidelines provided by senior colleagues and contribute to wider and new research projects. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You will Select, follow, and adapt specialist methodologies to confirm or refute theories, and identify suitable alternatives where information or research material is restricted. You will Undertake comprehensive and systematic literature reviews and write up the results for publication in peer-reviewed journals or for presentation at conferences or public meetings
You will be responsible for the day to day administration of the research projects whilst gathering, analysing and presenting qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources.

Responsibilities:

Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and those important to them facing the problems associated with progressive life limiting illness, through early identification and impeccable assessment, and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual. Our multidisciplinary clinical specialist palliative care service is based within Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and provides care and support for people across all settings - in the community, in hospital and in our 2 hospices, Sobell House in Churchill Hospital and Katharine House in Banbury.
We are seeking to appoint a full time Research Associate to undertake and support research projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for patients receiving palliative care and those important to them. They will report to Prof Bee Wee CBE, as research lead, and will have shared office space in the Academic Centre at Sobell House. They will be a member of the Clinical Quality and Research Group and will have opportunity to engage with the wide range of activities and initiatives on offer to other staff in our department.
The post is Full time and fixed term for 12 months.
The Applicant must hold a first degree, together with relevant experience. Working towards a doctorate in a specialist discipline or plan to do so.
