Description:
We are seeking to recruit a Research Development and Innovation Manager within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.
This is a strategically important role, which will drive the delivery of the Facultys research and innovation strategies and provide operational leadership. The post-holder will line manage the Facultys Research Development and Innovation team, which brings together a range of specialist functional areas and includes the Research Development, Internationalisation and Faculty Business Engagement teams.
The Research Development and Innovation Manager will work in a rapidly changing and complex environment. The successful candidates should have significant experience in a leadership and management role and be educated to degree level in a relevant subject (or have demonstrable relevant professional experience supporting Research and Innovation activities). Key qualities include the ability to influence and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders from different sectors internally and externally, strategy development, negotiation skills, and excellent communication and organisation skills.
In addition, candidates should be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and experience of the HE sector, extensive experience of the interface between higher education and industry, along with knowledge of the UK and international research funding landscape.
The successful candidates will be based within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, working closely with the Facultys senior research and innovation leadership and working in close partnership with the Directorate of Research and Business Engagement, as a key member of the Universitys Business Engagement and Knowledge Exchange leadership team.
