You will mainly work on research projects with us and can contribute your ideas to the development of new projects. Therefore, you will establish research focuses for sail systems for commercial shipping and get an overview of the various auxiliary wind drives, in order to identify weak spots and optimization potential. This includes the mechanical design of the rig as a complete system as well as the flap and adjustment mechanisms for the wind propulsion system. To do so, you will determine the operating loads of sail systems. Employing your results, you will then optimize the operating and vibration behavior. In addition, you will also optimize the design of wind propulsion systems with regard to lightweight construction and resource efficiency.
