ArcelorMittal Global R&D is looking for a Research Engineer to support the development and deployment of sustainable industrial practices for the research center of Esch/Alzette, Luxembourg. The incumbent is expected to contribute to ambitious transversal projects to support ArcelorMittal’s transition to a more sustainable and eventually carbon free future. She/he is also expected to manage projects involving third party R&D providers, to generate new ideas for reducing the environmental impact of our industrial activities and to develop these ideas into R&D projects. An essential part of the mission is to support the plants on their journey to clean & sustainable production practices.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Master degree or PhD in Environmental Technologies and Engineering or closely related subject. Alternatively: a degree in a numerate science or engineering with a demonstrated track record of successful work on environmental subjects
  • You have basic knowledge of environmental standards.
  • Basics of CFD would be a plus
  • Fluent in English and French, Spanish and/or Portuguese would be considered an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Propose, lead or join local and global R&D projects dealing with the today group ambitions of sustainability (pollutions & license to operate), efficient use of resources, decarbonization, energy recovery, circular economy.
  • Be the key-enabler for collaboration with the other three teams working on sustainability within Global R&D (Brazil, Spain, France) on topic including strategy, ideation, project management, results dissemination …
  • Identify funded calls, develop partnerships, write and submit proposals to boost the group’s ambition toward decarbonization and improved sustainability.
  • Be an active listener of business needs and environmental trends, acquire a good knowledge of the local public research and development community.
  • Support the rapid deployment of innovative solutions and the development of new technologies relating to decarbonization and sustainable production in the plants.
