Description:

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team managing research and evaluation projects. We are looking for a mixed methods researcher with project design skills and experience of undertaking research with a range of participants including children and young people.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting project managers on quantitative and qualitative research projects from inception through to delivery
  • Keeping clients updated on progress – we trust and encourage people at all levels to work and liaise directly with our clients
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal operations colleagues to ensure the objectives of the research are met and on budget
  • Contributing to questionnaires and discussion guides that meet clients’ and stakeholders’ objectives
  • Drafting fieldwork materials such as invitation letters, interviewer instructions and recruitment materials
  • Managing and monitoring fieldwork.
  • Drafting data specifications and checking data files
  • Writing reports and presentations that deliver insights to meet the client’s objectives
  • Quality checking key deliverables, ensuring they are delivered accurately and to the highest quality
  • Monitoring a project’s financial progress, identifying problems and suggesting solutions

ESSENTIAL:

This role will suit candidates who enjoy working in teams, often delivering at a fast pace. The ideal candidate would be interested in working on a range of jobs and have experience of working on research projects, ideally with some experience of research with children and/or other audiences with vulnerabilities.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Very good quantitative and qualitative social research skills, and ability to comfortably support projects and deliver day-to-day
  • Interest in the social issues affection education, children and families.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organised, and solutions-focused
  • Time management skills, working across multiple projects, prioritising tasks efficiently
  • Ability to work to tight and demanding deadlines with high quality outputs
  • Experience in writing questionnaires, discussion guides, fieldwork materials etc.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SPSS and other packages
  • Ability to understand and interpret qualitative and quantitative data
  • Very good communication, client handling and supplier negotiation skills
  • Confident and clear written and verbal communication skills, including experience of preparing written reports and presentations, with a high level of accurate use of English.
  • Proven ability to work well in teams

Ipsos UK’s Education, Children and Families (ECF) Policy Team is a multi-disciplinary team of social policy researchers and evaluation specialists, working specifically in the areas of early years through to adulthood covering education (including further and higher), family policies, and risky behaviours.

We are recruiting for a Research Executive to join our ECF team – helping to deliver some of the most interesting and impactful research studies across areas covering early years through to adulthood.
This is an exciting opportunity for a developing researcher to learn more about methods and project management, in order to take on an increasing role in managing high profile studies which influence and inform Government decision-making. You will learn this in an environment where you have multiple people to learn from to develop your skills.
