Description:

The Department of Emergency Medicine is one of the oldest academic departments of emergency medicine in the country, founded in 1990 with Dr. Douglas Rund as the inaugural chair. Through 2016, we have had 286 graduates of our residency program, now practicing across the country. Research is a core mission of the Department of Emergency Medicine with investigator support from multiple NIH and industry grants spanning clinical, basic science and translational research realms. We are a growing, vibrant department composed of dedicated and accomplished faculty, bright energetic residents and fellows and a supportive administrative team.
Our strategic plan for growth is focused on health-related themes that leverage collaborative ties with colleagues in the Colleges of Engineering, Medicine, Arts and Sciences, Veterinary Medicine and Sciences, Dentistry, and Optometry - all on the same campus. The combined technical, core, and clinical research facilities of the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute, the NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Ohio Supercomputer Center and an NIH-sponsored Center for Clinical and Translational Science provide unique and comprehensive resources for biomedical engineering research and education at Ohio State.
Our basic science and translational research domain expertise spans regenerative medicine, molecular medicine, biomaterials, molecular, cellular, tissue Engineering and biomedical micro/nano technology. There is an emphasis on applying these domains to address human cardiovascular, diabetes, and musculoskeletal disorders.

For this search we specifically seek applications from exceptional candidates who:

  • Complement and expand our existing cardiovascular and bioengineering expertise with demonstrated research interests in Myocardial Infarction/Cardiac Repair & Regeneration/Cellular Reprogramming/Bioengineering/ and/or Heart failure.

We plan to invite selected applicants for interviews as early as April/May 2024; however, the search will continue until the position is filled.
