POSITION OVERVIEW
ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the Research School of Psychology, the ANU Medical School, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the Research School of Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.
The ANU rural medicine program, delivered through the Rural Clinical School (RCS), provides access to medical education for students from rural locations, and offers rural learning experiences for all students in the MChD program. The RCS enables medical students to undertake part of their training through rural placements in six rural campuses throughout SE NSW, in Bega, Cooma, Eurobodalla, Goulburn, Young and Cowra. The RCS also undertakes research focused on rural health issues, as well as rural medical education and workforce recruitment, retention and development. MChD students are supported to undertake independent research projects in Phase 1 of the program.
This position is part of a small team undertaking research work as part of RCS obligations under the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program (RHMTP) in line with an agreed annual research plan. The successful applicant will also have a role in supervising and mentoring medical students and in collaborating with local, regional and national colleagues.
The University actively encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. For more information on employment opportunities, contact our Indigenous Employment Consultant via: indigenous.employment@anu.edu.au
