Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a talented and driven Research Fellow to join our team at the Centre for Women’s and Children’s Mental Health. In this role, you will contribute to a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Ideas grant-funded project in perinatal psychiatry, nested within the Mercy Pregnancy Emotional Wellbeing Study (MPEWS). This project investigates the potential of pharmacogenetics to enhance understanding of individual responses and risks for antidepressants during pregnancy.
As a Research Fellow, you will work closely with Professor Galbally and the investigator team, managing day-to-day coordination and building on your research skills. Key responsibilities include data management, analysis of bioinformatics data, drafting and reporting results for publications, and presenting at scientific conferences.

As the successful candidate your responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-day management and coordination of the project
  • Managing applications, data and publication processes, and liaison with CIs, AIs and consumer reference members, as well as project staff and partner organisations
  • Be a key contributor to the analysis of bioinformatics data, drafting and reporting of results for publications and presentations at scientific conferences

This position is suited to a highly motivated individual who holds a doctoral qualification in a relevant field such as bioinformatics or pharmacogenetics. You may also have knowledge of prescribing practices in perinatal psychiatry and an understanding of how pharmacogenetics can influence treatment outcomes.
Diversity is one of our greatest strengths at Monash. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodiverse people, and people of all genders, sexualities, and age groups.
Join the pursuit of our purpose to build a better future for ourselves and our communities – #ChangeIt with us.
Monash avidly supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements. We have a range of policies in place enabling staff to combine work and personal commitments. This includes supporting parents.
Your employment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of all pre-employment and/or background checks required for the role, as determined by the University.
Your application must address the selection criteria in a cover letter. Please refer to “How to apply for Monash Jobs”.
