JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this role, you must have a doctoral qualification in economics or a related social science discipline. You should demonstrate extensive quantitative, problem-solving, statistical and analytical skills, and research interests in areas relevant to the project, including gender, development, political economy, institutions, culture, policy analysis and evaluation. Demonstrated experience in addressing issues related to the project in the Indo-Pacific region (e.g., Indonesia, Vietnam and Fiji) would be advantageous.
Your track record should include high-quality published research in economics or related disciplines. Your commitment to securing external funding underscores your proactive approach. You should possess strong mentoring and leadership skills, supporting both research staff and higher degree research students effectively. Your proficiency in manuscript preparation and articulate communication sets you apart. Your collegial demeanour ensures a positive workplace dynamic, enhancing collaborative efforts among colleagues.
You should excel in collaborative interdisciplinary teams while have a proven ability to work independently, consistently meeting team project deadlines. Proficiency in, and willingness to develop further capacity in interdisciplinary and Indigenous-centered research methodologies is expected.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
An exciting opportunity is available for a Level A and/or Level B academic with strong econometrics, data science, analytical, and statistical modelling skills to contribute to a research project on the Impact of Institutions on Violence Against Women (VAW) at the Curtin University Node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW). The project aims to build an evidence base to understand how different institutional configurations and policies can help prevent VAW. As part of a team, you will work with CEVAW Partner Investigators and Organisations and make use of secondary and primary survey and administrative datasets. This innovative role offers the opportunity to make original contributions to research, fieldwork, data collection, data management and stakeholder engagements across multiple sites in the Indo-Pacific region.
SOME KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to ongoing research projects.
- Conduct research and produce papers and reports.
- Prepare publications, presentations, and reports.
- Maintain a high-quality publication record.
- Co-supervise research-support staff.
- Co-supervise CEVAW HDR students.
- Contribute to research proposal submissions.
- Attend professional activities.
- Perform administrative functions.
- Occasionally contribute to CEVAW’s research training and ethics programs.
- Occasionally contribute to teaching and learning programs within the Faculty of Business and Law
- Attend regular meetings and be a member of committees.
- Act as a leading example of the University’s and CEVAW’s Code of Conduct and demonstrate fairness in behaviour, actions, and communication., ethics and professionalism
FIXED TERM ROLE:
