Responsibilities:
The Department of Sport Science is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented Research Fellow in Coach Education. NTU are collaborating with Loughborough University and the Lawn Tennis Association to evaluate the impact of the coach development system on the attraction, development and retention of coaches in tennis. The post-holder will be joining sport and exercise scientists and social scientists at NTU in the Sport, Health and Performance Enhancement (SHAPE) Research Centre, until 31st July 2024.
The post-holder will be leading the collaborative project, working alongside Dr. Ali Bowes, Dr. Pete Holmes and Prof. Chris Cushion (Loughborough University). The project aims to track a purposive sample of 20-25 coaches over the course of a year through the LTA Coach Development System using a multi-level (impact on the individual, practice, and system) and multi-method approach (observation, interview). This is with the intention of collecting evidence of the effectiveness of the pathway in delivering change to coaching practice, and the LTAs aims of attracting and retaining high quality coaches what works, for whom and why.
You will be experienced in qualitative data collection and analysis, with a specific focus on sport coaching. Any experience researching women in coach education would be beneficial.
You will be based at Nottingham Trent Universitys School of Science and Technology on our Clifton Campus.
For more details, please take a look at the role profile. We’ll still consider applications even if you don’t meet every single one of the requirements, so don’t be put off if you don’t match them perfectly.
