The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is inviting applications for the position of Research Fellow. The Research Fellow will work on a project to conduct the research on modelling, design, fabrication and testing of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) as a gain medium for integrated photonics.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Physics, or related field
• 1-year research experience in related area
• Expertise in energy integrated photonics
• Knowledge in FDTD simulation
• Experiences in material processing and microfabrication
• Publication track record is an advantage
• Proficiency in English as required to publish research.

• Modelling of novel gain medium compatible with Si-based integrated photonics
• Development and demonstration of the gain medium on SiN photonics technology
• Characterization and testing of the gain medium, and refinement to meet the required specification
• Integration of the gain medium on large scale wafer size (interfacing with external collaborators)
• Work on a project to on modelling, design, fabrication and testing of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) as a gain medium for integrated photonics
• Integration of gain medium on large scale integrated photonics platform
