OVERVIEW

The Nanomaterials for Energy Storage and Conversion Research Group conducts both fundamental and application-oriented research on materials and devices for energy storage and conversion.
We are looking for a qualified Research Fellow to join our team under the PRR framework, and work on the Production of sodium-ion based structureal batteries project, for the New Generation Storage Agenda.
Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

  • Perform the R&D activities as planned in the project;
  • Collaborate with other academic and industry partners within the consortium on joint R&D;
  • Report to supervisor and project leader(s) on R&D progress;
  • Publish project results and communicate the results in project/professional meetings;
  • Engage in other project dissemination activities.

Mandatory Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • PhD in Electrochemistry, Materials Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Nanotechnology or other related field.

Experience and Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience in battery materials synthesis, particularly in polyanion-type or Prussian blue/White cathode materials;
  • Extensive knowledge of battery chemistry, structural characterisation of materials and electrochemical performance assessment;
  • Good track-record on battery materials research, preferably on sodium-ion battery cathode materials, in the form of scientific publications and/or patents as the leading author.

EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Knowledge on rechargeable Na-ion batteries;
  • Structural characterisation of materials by means of X-ray diffraction or related techniques;
  • Knowledge of the safety requirements related to the synthesis of materials, in particular with Prussian Blue/White analogues.

PERSONAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work independently and as team player;
  • Commitment and result driven work ethics;
  • Capacity to organise the workload in a flexible way;
  • Capacity to work in multidisciplinary teams;
  • Pro-active spirit;
  • Good understanding of state-of-the-art research and practices in the field.
