Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center
, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Research Lab Manager in the Metabolism - Body Composition Laboratory.
The Research Laboratory Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the lab, such as ordering supplies, training other staff, and organizing experiments. Additional responsibilities include overseeing study data management, assisting in study data analysis and interpretation, and assisting in preparing presentations, publications, and grants related to data collected in the lab. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to perform various lab experiments as needed.

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing research coordinators and student workers, overseeing study and laboratory operations, management, and assisting in study data analysis and interpretation.
  • Meet regularly with lab staff to oversee their activities and give guidance. Oversee and monitor study data management.
  • Assist in analysis and interpretation of study data. Contribute graphics to presentations, manuscripts, and grants as needed.
  • Attend national or international meetings to present data arising out of lab work.
  • Other duties as requested to support manager or ongoing trials within the research group.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience performing clinical research functions such as informed consent, anthropometric measures, source documentation, and regulatory document submissions.
  • Experience developing and overseeing project/program operations required and interaction in large clinical trial networks.
  • Exemplary time management skills and judgment.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access).
