Description:
SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Research Laboratory Specialist Intermediate to join Dr. Michael Mulholland?s laboratory. Our laboratory has been extramurally funded since 1989. We are interested in examining the cross-talk between the gut and liver and how it impacts the metabolic functions in the liver. The laboratory team consists of two Investigators and two post-doctoral fellows.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
- PhD degree in related field required
- 4-5 years related experience
- Strong collaborative interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Cell culture
- Knowledge and experience in transgenic mice
- Mouse handling and procedures
- Familiarity with immunological principles and biology
- Scientific curiosity and an interest in the process of discovery
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
- Mouse intravenous, intraperitoneal, and subcutaneous injections
- Assays for glucose and lipid metabolism
- Sequencing, including RNA sequencing and single cell sequencing
- Histology and Immunoreactivity assays
- Supervisory and financial experience preferred
Responsibilities:
The applicant is required to function as a specialist in an obesity and metabolism research laboratory. Under general direction of faculty and/or senior research personnel, the candidate is expected to carry out the following duties:
- Conduct animal and laboratory experiments, collect and analyze data, and participate in developing new and/or revised research methodologies.
- Disseminate information to laboratory staff through data presentation, prepare reports and draft manuscripts.
- Oversight in day-to-day operations of the laboratory.
- Oversee laboratory equipment and supplies, schedule and maintain records of equipment/facility, and assist in purchasing of laboratory animals and supplies.
- Maintain administrative records related to regulatory protocols and purchases.
- Train users in equipment operation and laboratory techniques; provide general technical support.
