Description:
Qualifications and Required Skills:
• Honours in LIS (Library and Information Science), with 5 years’ experience in an academic or research library as an information librarian.
Knowledge and skills:
• Subject knowledge in related field
• Knowledge of systematic reviews.
• Knowledge of citation resources
• Knowledge management skills.
• Knowledge in bibliographic and authority control.
• Knowledge of anti-plagiarism software
• Knowledge of Open scholarship services
• Research process and methodology.

• Interviewing/reference skills
• Training and user experience skills.
Responsibilities:
• Provide input and contribute to a research support advisory service to academics and postgraduate students in all aspects of scholarly communication and publication process.
• Develop and manage relationships to support academics and researchers in their research assessment and (NRF) ratings.
• Maintain awareness of a wide variety of research tools, methodologies, and resources appropriate for student and faculty scholarship, including but not limited to citation management, evidence synthesis, and data analysis.
• Conduct reference research interviews with clients to determine their needs.
• Provide library orientation, information literacy trainings.
• Provide instruction and training in the use of information resources for a specific discipline or subject area.
• Contribute content to the University’s Learning Management System (i.e. provide links to tools such as Blackboard, etc.)
• Develop information literacy tutorial using appropriate technologies.
• Initiate the development of various teaching and learning modalities and platforms for information literacy instruction in collaboration with the manager faculty library.
• Administer and manage Student Workers
• Attend Faculty Board meetings and all relevant committee meetings in the Faculty.
• Develop and manage relationships with academics, researchers, students and staff.
• Develop relationships with academic staff, researchers and postgraduate students, and regularly schedule meetings to assess progress and address any concerns.
