Overview:
IDC’s Developer Research Team is seeking a Research Manager to support its research and business development efforts in analyzing trends with respect to contemporary software development and developers.
This position offers the Research Manager the opportunity to thrive as a provider of market intelligence to the industry’s leading suppliers of developer tools and commercial and open source software solutions. The Research Manager will serve as an expert in the creation of research related to the development of software, with a particular focus on the market research needs of technology suppliers about developer tools and developers. As such, this role will produce best in class research on the state of contemporary development and how it is changing in conjunction with market drivers and end user needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, publish, and present innovative, insightful, and actionable research. This research includes writing well-researched and concise reports and generating thought leadership around the topics of contemporary software development and developers.
- Follow industry trends about development languages, frameworks, deployment practices, automation in the development process and the integration of intelligence into development.
- Understand the adoption of discrete and hybrid methodologies for software development such as waterfall, agile and scrum.
- Understand differences between developer roles and personas, and how they are changing.
- Understand methodologies for measuring and evaluating developer productivity.
- Create quantitative models of developers worldwide in collaboration with guidance from senior analysts.
- Support customer inquiries related to market trends about developers and development.
- Present key research findings to clients.
- Provide first-class customer support and advisory services
