About This Opportunity
Make a difference in child health and wellbeing research - Join our dynamic team as a key player in driving our Centre’s research success! You’ll work closely with the Director and Centre Manager to bring our research strategy to life, focusing on career development for our researchers, enhancing the quality of research applications, and building impactful partnerships. Your strategic advice and training in grantsmanship will be pivotal in elevating our research impact. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high-level support to the Centre Manager, overseeing the implementation of the Centre’s research strategy and priorities.
  • Identify research funding opportunities, emphasizing programmatic grants, special initiatives, fellowships, and industry funding.
  • Develop strategic plans and materials to educate and facilitate research and grantsmanship for CHRC researchers and partners.
  • Provide executive leadership and support to the Centre’s research committees.
  • Monitor performance metrics and data to identify research strengths and opportunities for evidence-based decision making.
  • Offer research management and administration support to CHRC researchers, including budget preparation, project ethics, and ensuring compliance with University policies.
  • Develop knowledge of the Centre’s partnerships and capabilities to identify new collaboration opportunities.
  • Liaise with external research partners to promote the Centre as a valued research collaborator.
  • Manage the Clinician Researcher Development Program, including partnership negotiations, awarding scholarships, and cohort engagement.
  • Provide high-level support in preparing competitive funding applications, including strategic advice and editorial review.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 31/12/2024. At HEW level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,975.08 to $122,176.31, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $127,500.84 - $142,946.29 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully engaging with industry and research partners.
  • Expertise in research post-awards administration and management with a considerable degree of autonomy, preferably within a large, complex institution.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant industry, philanthropic, and Australian competitive granting schemes, with specific experience in writing and editing successful funding applications for at least two of the ARC, NHMRC, or MRFF.
  • High-level interpersonal skills, including effective liaison and negotiation abilities to develop and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Demonstrated high-level organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, use initiative, exercise sound judgment, and prioritise workload during busy periods.
  • Postgraduate qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
