Children’s Cancer Institute is looking for a Research Officer to work in our Therapeutic Discovery Theme. This is an exciting opportunity to work within an interdisciplinary team and project manage a research stream focused on the development, characterisation, and study of new immunotherapies for treatment of brain tumours that will include using cutting-edge mRNA technology and lipid nanoparticles.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing research using advanced microfluidics systems and in vitro-transcribed mRNA technology
- Culturing cancer cells
- Screening of therapeutics in animal models of brain tumours
- Managing the microfluidics facility
- Overseeing projects and ensuring they meet deadlines and milestones
- Coordinating and participating in internal and external collaborations and research meetings
- Developing and maintaining excellent professional relationships with internal and external collaborators.
- Mentoring and day-to-day supervision of junior staff and students
- Producing and contributing to high quality publications
- Contributing to research funding applications
- Preparing or assisting with the preparation of gene technology (OGTR) and ethics approvals
- Complying with regulatory guidelines (including OGTR and ethics) and Institute policies
