POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY
We are looking for highly motivated individuals to lead exciting projects in cancer genomics. Some active themes of research include discovery of drivers of lineage plasticity in treatment resistance, algorithm development for use of cell-free DNA to decode tumor epigenome and transcriptome, and deciphering the effects of tumor microenvironment on treatment resistance using single-cell approaches. Our current focus is on prostate and breast cancer but we are interested in the evolution of different cancer types. Successful candidates will have opportunities to collaborate with a diverse group of scientists and clinicians, for example, computational biologists, cancer biologists, oncologists, and pathologists. The Khurana lab has access to clinical data and patient specimens and participates actively in national cancer genomics consortia. We are looking for candidates across the wide spectrum of computational biology: from those interested in wet lab work and data analysis, to those interested in machine learning and methods development.
Eligibility: We are looking for a diverse group of candidates and a PhD in either of these fields would be required: computational biology, computer science, genomics, cancer biology, or a related field. A strong computational background, proficiency in at least one programming language and knowledge of statistics are also required.
RESEARCH SPECIALIST/TECHNICIAN
An exciting opportunity exists for an individual who has extensive wet lab expertise for the position of Research Specialist/Lab Manager. The suitable candidate will participate in multiple projects and work closely with the PI, computational biologists and collaborators. We are looking for an individual with experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques, such as DNA and RNA extraction, Western blot, qPCR, cloning, ChIP-seq, CRISPR and other omics assays. Interest in staying abreast of latest technology is required. The projects will involve working with cell culture, organoids, and patient specimens for various omics assays including but not limited to ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, whole-genome sequencing, and single-cell sequencing. A strong background in the biology of cancer and an ability to work both independently and cooperatively to support the efforts of the computational group in the lab are required.
Eligibility: While a PhD is preferred, we will consider candidates with a BS or MS in molecular biology and extensive research experience.
About Weill Cornell Medicine: Weill Cornell Medicine is a comprehensive academic medical center located in New York City with multiple joint programs with the neighboring Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Rockefeller University and Cornell University in Ithaca.
