Description:

A BRIEF OVERVIEW

This Research Assistant position is with the Center for Fetal Research in the Flake Lab http://www.chop.edu/doctors/flake-alan-w at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The Flake lab is currently working on an extrauterine system that supports extremely premature neonates. This novel technology offers the possibility of improving outcomes in a patient population with a high rate of mortality and morbidity.
The successful candidate will support ongoing research in the lab by functioning as an independent practitioner providing intensive and critical care in an animal NICU. This does not require prior experience and the candidate will be extensively trained in all relevant job functions. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for other tasks including aseptic scrub and surgical technique, post-mortem examinations, etc.
This laboratory is a highly collaborative and supportive training environment in which successful candidates will be given the opportunity to directly contribute to projects, potentially resulting in authorship on scientific manuscripts.
Recent medical or nursing school graduates and those seeking experience before applying to the Match cycle/residency programs are encouraged to apply. While some laboratory experience is preferred, qualified candidates with a medically relevant licensure degree (RN, NP, PA, MD) will be strongly considered.
