WHAT WILL YOU DO

As Research Scientist, you:

• will contribute and take ownership to the execution of the Product R&D program for the respective product families
• will contribute to the development of innovative processes, support trial runs, monitor the performance and, if necessary, optimize the product or process performance within the plant, to ensure safe and effective implementation and integration of products and processes
• will lead and/or support global, cross-functional T&S projects following the stage gate process
• will support Manufacturing, Procurement and Marketing to ensure continuity of production, and delivery of new, competitive products and processes
• will analyze and understand customer needs and adapt your projects and activities accordingly and in line with set strategies
• will contribute to developing and maintaining intellectual property on products, applications and/or processes to ensure the protection of the department’s research work and secure freedom to operate
• will support the global T&S team with in-depth technical knowledge
• stay up to date with relevant developments in own field of expertise and competitive environment, define product and technology and enable gap closing actions in line with set strategies, to ensure competitiveness of own product portfolio
• will professionally and qualitatively document and present knowledge and results

To accomplish this role, you:

• have an advanced technical degree (MSc with work experience or PhD in a technical field, like Chemistry or Chemical Engineering)
• have a minimum of 5 years working experience in plant support and product development preferable in polymer industry
• are fluent in English
• have in-depth knowledge in the field of rubber technology, polymerization chemistry, emulsion technology, hydrogenation or catalysis and a good understanding of related specialisms
• have basic experience in managing teams without hierarchical responsibility
• show a result- and value driven mindset
• manage complexity and opposite interests and sufficiently understand cross-impacts with other fields
• are agile to react and adapt to changing situations
• plan and execute work mainly independently and pro-actively seek guidance when in doubt
• develops and maintain relations with internal, operational stakeholders and build and maintain relations with known and new relevant external partie
