CSIRO’s Environment Business Unit is committed to addressing Australia’s biggest environmental challenges. One of our key research objectives is to tackle the biodiversity crisis from a whole of systems approach, addressing the critical research needed to drive transformational change and embed biodiversity at the heart of a sustainable Australia.
We are seeking a motivated Research Scientist in Biodiversity and Sustainability to join our talented team to help us address this challenge. Your research will integrate biodiversity into cross-sectoral decision making and socio-economic system sustainability, and help Australia navigate towards a nature positive position.
Bringing and building on your interdisciplinary skills and knowledge in biodiversity, sustainability, and socio-economic systems, you will play a key research role in tackling the human, societal, economic, institutional dimensions and systemic changes needed to both guide societal transitions for sustainable, equitable and biodiverse futures. If you have a keen interest in biodiversity and sustainability and are motivated to apply your expertise into creating real impact, this would be a great role for you!
Responsibilities:
- Driving critical research that integrates biodiversity into cross-sectoral decision making, and guiding societal transitions toward more sustainable, equitable and biodiverse futures.
- Using interdisciplinary skills and knowledge and scientific approaches to tackle the human, societal, economic institutional dimensions and systemic changes needed to address the biodiversity crisis.
- Collaborating with partners and stakeholders to develop transdisciplinary solutions to biodiversity and sustainability challenges that consider diverse perspectives.
- Translating science into meaningful formats, e.g. preparing reports or presentations for clients and/or writing scientific papers for publication.
Location: Brisbane (Dutton Park), QLD or Canberra (Black Mountain), ACT
Salary: AU$110K – AU$119K pa + up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Indefinite – Full time position available, flexible arrangements by negotiation
