Since its opening, the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN) has played a key role in delivering our research objectives. Providing world-renowned research centred around the treatment of neurological disorders including motor neurone disease, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. SITraN has grown immensely and developed into a leading global facility which is at the forefront of research and expertise, pioneering new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases and bringing new hope to patients and families across the country.
The post holder will report directly to the Lead Research Nurse (MND), working within a team of dedicated and specialised research nurses to manage and coordinate clinical research projects involving patients living with the medical conditions supported by the NIHR Sheffield Biomedical Research Centre – neurological, cardiovascular and infectious an immune conditions).
As a key part of the team, the Research Sister/Charge Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients in line with clinical trial protocols, laboratory manuals and all relevant regulatory standards.
The Research Sister/Charge Nurse will work as part of the larger research team to develop and deliver recruitment targets and strategies to meet these targets. The post holder will ensure that research safeguards are in place to protect the well-being of research participants and that research is conducted within the Regulatory Framework.
As part of the co-ordination responsibilities the post holder will be expected to represent the BRC team at national and international meetings.

It is the host for NIHR Clinical Research Network; Yorkshire and Humber (CRN; Y&H) and receives funding to support early phase, exploratory clinical trial activity facilitated through the Sheffield NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF), as well as a number of other awards including Devices for Dignity and NIHR CLAHRC.
