MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS or MS in Biology or Bioengineering
  • Strong background and experience in biological/medical/pharmaceutical research
  • Expert experience and skills using Confocal Microscopy, live cell, and fixed sample imaging.
  • Subject matter expert with sample preparation including IF/IHC/ISH.
  • Experience supporting users within a team or hub environment.
  • Capable of leading team or lab projects, and ability to clearly convey objectives and keeping to timelines and agreed outcomes.
  • Experience with standard image analysis software and packages.
  • Strong communication skills, with proven ability to work as part of a diverse team.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to mentoring others (interns/RA’s) and helping them to grow and succeed in their roles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with HCS and super-resolution imaging modalities.
  • High level of computer literacy and ability to maintain an electronic lab notebook.
  • Experience with Cell culture, Flow cytometry and/or histology desirable.

The salary range for Cambridge, UK:

  • Research Specialist I: £63,750 - £86,250

Responsibilities:

  • Training scientists in microscope operation and sample preparation
  • Develop image analysis pipelines
  • Independent operation of microscopes
  • Support sample tracking and data management
  • Be responsible for the day to day running of the Imaging laboratory, including maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment, and ordering of consumables.
  • Provide input for developing project-specific experimental strategies, techniques, and procedures to meet research goals; develop standard operating procedures and risk assessment in collaboration with Hub Director
  • Excellent application of professional judgment, interpretation of experimental results, innovation of new approaches, and preparation of research for presentation and publication
  • Reviews research activities to determine where new information, methods, or collaborations could positively impact projects and improve efficiency of processes
  • Serve as point person and schedule coordinator for highly specialized pieces of scientific equipment
  • Coordinate with and provide assistance to other Hubs as required
