The Woolley Lab in the Zuckerman Institute studies behavioral and neural mechanisms of social communication. The lab is seeking a Research Staff Assistant to support experimental studies on songbirds, including breeding, song tutoring and learning, auditory perception, singing, and social interactions.
This is a grant-funded role; one year with the possibility to renew.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Under the direction of the PI, perform the following techniques: quantify behavior, sound analysis, programming, and statistics used to study social interactions, auditory discrimination and preference, auditory-vocal learning, and acoustics in songbirds.
Under the direction of the PI, perform behavioral, genetic, and physiological experiments
Order lab supplies and maintain inventories of chemicals and reagents for experimental procedures.
Participate in training new lab members, and students and engage in weekly lab meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required in a Scientific discipline. Minimum 2 years or more of experience in a research environment preferred.
