The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for an experienced and lab-savy Research Technician, to join our team based in Cambridge, UK. In this position you’ll join a laboratory-based group, who is responsible for generating recombinant proteins and novel drug molecule formats to support internal projects at all stages of drug development
This role will be a full-time permanent position based in brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00
The Team
You’ll join a close-knit team of 4 Scientists, who are part of Early Expression and Supply Group. You’ll belong to our business department Lab and Production Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.

What we’re looking for

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in science related discipline (Biochemistry or Biology preferred), or equivalent experience of at-least 1 year in hands-on laboratory role
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-year proven experience in laboratory-based environment in similar role
  • Practical experience or theoretical understanding of molecular biology, recombinant protein expression and plasmid DNA purification
  • Experience with cell culture techniques
  • Computer literate: articulate, confident and competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel with experience of using databases, analytical packages and presenting data using standard techniques such as PowerPoint, spreadsheets, computerised reports

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Support EES Team in DNA purification and QC, analytical support, cell stock maintenance, generation of recombinant protein and novel molecule
  • Maintaining, ordering, unpacking stocks of reagents and consumables
  • Preparation and maintenance of buffer & solutions
  • Supporting general day-to-day laboratory activities within Upstream Bio-process Development group, including housekeeping of the labs (i.e., participate in cleaning rotas: hoods, water baths, incubators, and relevant equipment)
