Description:

The Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) is an institute of the Center for Molecular
and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) and currently hosts over 20 research groups and more than
250 employees. Research at the CRTD focuses on regenerative and stem cell research ranging from
basic research to application in a clinical-translational context. Researchers at the institute develop
new approaches for diagnosis and therapy in the fields of haematology/immunology, diabetes,
neurodegenerative diseases and bone and tissue regeneration. For TUD diversity is an essential

At the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), the Stem Cell Engineering Facility
offers a position as
Research Technician / BTA / CTA (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 9a TV-L)
starting August 1 2024 with 97.5% of the full-time weekly hours. The position is initially limited to
24 months (time limitation pursuant to § 14 (2) TzBfG).
The Stem Cell Engineering Facility at the CRTD provides cutting-edge technologies and expertise for
human and primate induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) research to internal and external customers.
It offers a range of services including the generation and characterization of iPSC lines as well as the
culture and banking of iPSCs. More information is available here: https://tud.link/8lwq. As technician,
you will be joining a motivated international team working in a state-of-the-art research institute.

Tasks: your tasks will include the following:

  • banking, maintenance, characterization and quality control of stem cells
  • assistance in reprogramming of patient and donor samples to iPSCs
  • genome engineering using CRISPR/Cas9 technology
  • genotyping of iPSCs and preparation of Sanger Sequencing samples
  • In vitro differentiation of human iPSCs to cardiomyocytes and derivatives of all three germ

layers

  • preparation of technical reports, summaries and quantitative analysis
  • assisting in writing and revising technical documents including lab Standard Operating

Procedures (SOPs) and protocols

  • accurate and reliable documentation of experiments
  • experimental troubleshooting
  • communication with facility customers, giving advice and training
  • maintaining a safe and clean working environment
  • other lab organizational duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • completed vocational training as a biological-technical-assistant (BTA), chemical-technical-
    assistant (CTA) or as a biological/chemical laboratory technician with equivalent knowledge

and experience

  • hands-on experience in cell culture including expansion, characterization and

cryopreservation of cell lines is required

  • experience with following SOPs and required documentation
  • knowledge of laboratory safety plans and procedures
  • integrity, reliability and capacity for teamwork
  • distinguished analytical, problem solving and process development skills
  • good English communication skills
  • excellent organizing, planning and scheduling abilities
  • practical knowledge of human pluripotent stem cell culturing and in vitro differentiation is

preferred.

  • German language skills and experience with flow cytometry, immunocytochemical

techniques, fluorescence microscopy and basic molecular biological techniques (e. g. cloning,
transfection, PCRs and qRT-PCR) arehighly desirable.
