The Dulin lab has to offer one research technician (HBO) (2 years) to start as soon as possible in the field of nucleic acids biochemistry and recombinant protein expression/purification. The successful candidate will be part of the Dulin lab effort in designing and fabricating nucleic acids scaffolds and in recombinant proteins expression and purification to enable single-molecule biophysics investigation of protein-nucleic acids interactions. In addition, the person will manage the molecular biology tasks for the Dulin lab.
QUALIFICATIONS:
We are looking for an outstanding experimentalist:
- with experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, bacterial/insect/human cells recombinant protein expression and purification. Experience in enzymology will be appreciated.
- that can solve complex problems in nucleic acid assembly and protein expression/purification using state of the art knowledge in biochemistry and molecular biology.
- with a creative, hard-working, well organized and independent mindset and an interest in crossing research fields. A strong ability to work within a team is essential.
The successful candidate will use their expertise to advance problems related to nucleic acid scaffold design and fabrication, protein expression/purification/labelling. Proficiency in English (both speaking and writing) is required.
ABOUT US
The Dulin lab (https://daviddulinlab.com/) is located at VU Amsterdam, one of the best universities in the Netherlands, and a leading environment in biophysics, located in the vibrant and international city of Amsterdam. Our team is an inclusive and diverse environment, welcoming excellent students from all backgrounds. We are embedded within the Physics of Living System Section of the Physics Department of VU Amsterdam, together with several other biophysics lab, constituting a uniquely thriving environment in physics of life, specifically in single-molecule biophysics. The Dulin lab has a strong expertise in investigating RNA virus genome synthesis molecular complexes using single molecule biophysics techniques, with several breakthrough studies on SARS-CoV-2 genome replication and antiviral drugs evaluation. The Dulin lab has also a strong expertise in nucleic acids construct fabrication with many protocols already established (Papini et al., Nucleic Acids Research 2019). The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and international team of biophysicists and biochemists ready to tackle highly challenging problems related to antiviral drug discoveries. Their research will have access to a molecular biology facility to perform their research. They will be working in close collaboration with the other scientists of the group, be fully involved in their research projects, and have the opportunity to publish in high-impact journals.
