Description:

Research Technician 2 to assist and support scientific investigation to study human cancer as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center/Pathology (Cell Reprogramming Laboratory, PI: Dr. Xuefeng Liu)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Requires successful completion of a background check.
  • Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

    Salary Range for this position: $15.29 - $20.41 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Independently conducts assigned experiments
  • Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis; sorts and processes tissue and blood samples
  • Tests and evaluates current procedures
  • Performs routine procedures on lab animals
  • Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
  • Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
  • Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
  • Prepares research progress reports
  • Assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
  • Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
  • Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
  • Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
  • Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
