POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix is seeking a Research Technologist I to join the multidisciplinary research team in the Department of Internal Medicine. The Research Technologist I will support various research activities, including maintaining rodent colonies, genotypings, performing/assisting in animal procedures, and performing laboratory techniques utilizing tissues and cultured cells. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to research on chronic liver disease and its complications. The successful candidate will demonstrate their aptitude for scientific processes and previous training in Biological Sciences and/or relevant areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • One (1) year of relevant work experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in animal work.
  • Masters in a laboratory scientific field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook) and web-based searches and platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and scientific expertise to the management of complex scientific equipment utilizing specific scientific knowledge typically obtained through obtaining a scientific bachelor’s degree.
  • Laboratory experiments:
  • Perform laboratory experiments at a highly independent level under the guidance of senior researchers or principal investigators.
  • Assist in the development and optimization of experimental protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and equipment for experiments, ensuring proper calibration and maintenance.
  • Animal experimental procedures and surgery assistant:
  • Maintain rodent colonies under the guidance of senior researchers or principal investigators.
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and equipment for animal procedures and surgery.
  • Upon proper trainings, execute animal procedures, assist in animal surgeries, and monitor/care animals during the study periods, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Experimental samples/data collection and management:
  • Collect experimental samples and data under the guidance of senior researchers or principal investigators.
  • Record experimental data meticulously.
  • Organize and maintain experimental samples and data for easy access and retrieval.
  • Grant proposal and publication support:
  • Prepare supporting documents for grant and contract proposals.
  • Assist in literature reviews and methodology sections.
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation and editing.
  • Additional laboratory duties related to research as assigned.
