Position Summary:
Learns about the scientific approach to research questions, records laboratory data in an established format, and performs simple standard laboratory research procedures

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and adhere to lab safety standards, policies, and protocols
  • Under direction of Investigator, works with lab staff to learn laboratory procedures specific to aims of research
  • Carries out independent reading relevant to research being observed or performed
  • Generates clear and complete records of experimental work
  • Communicates results at research meetings
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
  • Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures

Qualifications:

EDUCATION

  • Enrolled in college with an emphasis on science curriculum. required

EXPERIENCE

  • High school level courses in biology, chemistry, or equivalent scientific discipline required
  • With increased responsibility, college level courses in similar disciplines required
  • Future career focus on biological sciences desired

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to carry out experiments and tasks by following established guidelines required
  • Strong detail orientation required
  • Effective organizational and communication skills required
