Description:
We are seeking a Researcher in Automation and Engineering in the Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics (CBT).
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area is required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- No additional experience required.
Responsibilities:
- Sorting, operating, and troubleshooting automated storage and liquid handlers.
- Routinely testing storage conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity) to ensure compound stability over time.
- Maintaining, operating, and programming robotic systems for accurate and precise dispensing of compounds.
- Operating and maintaining liquid handlers for high-throughput screening and the generation of assay-ready plates.
- Generating assay-ready plates from and to different labware depending on the project.
- Efficiently and accurately using software systems to track the location and usage of compounds within a database.
- Ensuring data integrity and security of compound information.
- Streamlining and automating compound management workflows to improve efficiency.
- Maintaining and operating the compound sample storage system.
- Integrating laboratory information management systems with automation platforms in collaboration with CBT Lead Discovery Informatics Center.
- Maintaining and operating liquid handlers for quality control and compound identity and purity verification.
- Conducting experiments to ensure the accuracy and reliability of compound handling processes and instrumentation.
- Tracking inventory and replenishment of the St. Jude Compound Collection.
- Researching and developing new platforms to enable emerging technologies.
- Designing experiments to validate and qualify the automated systems for compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensuring that compound management processes meet industry and safety standards.
- Working with the team to reformat new libraries.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Identifying and resolving automated system issues, which may involve diagnosing mechanical, electrical, or software problems.
- Performing routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
- Experimenting with new technologies and methods to stay current in the field.
- Training entry-level personnel on the use of liquid handlers and automated storage
