Description:

Area: Faculty IV: School of Science and Technology | Job scope: full-time | Duration of employment: limited | Posting-ID: 6196
The University of Siegen is a modern university with an international orientation and a focus on interdisciplinary research. It currently has around 15,000 students and covers a range of research fields from the humanities, social and economic sciences to natural sciences, engineering and life sciences. With over 2,000 employees, the university is one of the largest employers in the region and offers a unique environment for teaching, study, research and knowledge transfer.
Job and project context
As part of the research project “Contribution to the automated, modular modeling, simulation and design of power electronic converters using an open-source software toolkit” funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft - DFG), software-based design solutions for future power electronic energy converters are being investigated. There is a particular focus on consistent project implementation within the framework of open science principles. For the project, which is being carried out jointly with the University of Paderborn, we are looking for electrical engineers with an affinity for programming as well as computer scientists with an affinity for electronics or related graduates. The position also offers the opportunity for obtaining a ph.d. / doctorate degree (Dr.-Ing. / Dr. rer. nat.) or for qualification as a post-doc. Further information on the project can be found here: https://www.eti.uni-siegen.de/ias/research.

WE SEEK:

  • Pay grade 13 TV-L
  • limited for three years

Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the above-mentioned DFG research project
  • Development of software modules for the simulation and evaluation of power electronic circuits (e.g., in terms of efficiency or power density)
  • Integration of numerical optimization methods to improve power electronic converters or sub-circuit groups
  • Building a software architecture towards an automated power electronics optimization toolchain
  • Validation by means of unit and integration tests
  • Scaling the toolchain towards high-performance computing clusters
  • Publication and maintenance of above software-driven solutions in open-source repositories (esp. GitHub)
  • Writing and publishing of scientific articles
  • Active collaboration with the project partners
