JOB SUMMARY:
The Department of Residence Life in University Housing is recruiting for a Residence Education Manager to join our team!
Our Residence Education team aims to blur the line between traditional learning spaces (i.e., classrooms) and our residence halls through learning initiatives and partnerships with faculty, staff, and advisors across campus. The Residence Education Manager is a key contributor to our Residential Learning Communities, leading student recruitment, supporting student staff, assisting with budget management, and assessing programs.
This position supports the development, implementation, and assessment of the Wisconsin Residential Experience (WRE), our residential curriculum. The Residence Education team supports existing academic initiatives in the residence halls, assists in developing new initiatives, and leads training and development related to academic support and co-curricular learning for the department of Residence Life.
EDUCATION:
Required
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required by start date. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or a related field with relevant work experience.
Preferred
Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred by start date. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or a related field with relevant work experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five (5) years of post-undergraduate employment experience
- Experience with High Impact Educational Practices, particularly in Residential Learning Communities
- Knowledge of student development and student learning theories/models
- Experience supporting student learning outside of the classroom
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs programming and support for residents living in assigned campus housing units, responds to non-routine emergency situations, and/or supervises staff in support of creating an inclusive and safe living community.
- 30% Develops, implements, and evaluates resident housing operating policies, procedures, and programs to promote an inclusive community
- 35% Assists in the development and implementation of strategic unit initiatives or student programs
- 5% Triages and responds to emergency situations according to established policies and procedures in partnership with emergency personnel and law enforcement if necessary
- 25% May supervise the day-to-day activities of unit staff and resolves routine and non-routine personnel issues
- 5% Assists with implementation of university procedures that address student conduct
TASKS:
- Assists with the development and implementation of departmental academic initiatives.
- Supports residential learning community initiatives including assessment and strategic planning.
- Assists with departmental residential curriculum initiatives.
- Assists with the management of academic advising initiatives.
- Assists with tutoring staff training and support.
- Serves as a conduct hearing officer, as assigned.
- Serves on Incident Response Team for University Housing’s Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP); Provide leadership and make decisions regarding and during emergency management; Expected to provide after hours contact numbers.
